Wedding Timeline that includes Wellness


This is a fabulous timeline that will allow you to truly fulfill on creating the wedding of your dreams. Having a timeline such as this is essential to lessening the stress of wedding preparation. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t embellish it with one more important aspect of having a dream wedding and it is in addition that will also truly have you live a life your dreams.

The aspect I am alluding to is wellness. Over the years, as a wellness coach, I have seen many a bride and other members of the wedding party fall victim to neglecting their health in the months preceding the wedding. Even the most fit of brides is subject to the added stress of planning one of the most important days of her life. An example of this is one of my dear friends, who due to stress, contracted double pneumonia, just a few short weeks prior to her ceremony and had to be wheeled down the aisle, in a wheelchair. Needless to say this was not the dream wedding she had envisioned.

Though often overlooked, consulting with a wellness coach, such as myself, can provide you with a comprehensive wellness plan that will ensure a healthy happy wedding day and life. Many wellness coaches will provide you free consultations for the all involved in the wedding and even provide complimentary coaching throughout the wedding months. The plan may include a customized food plan, exercise suggestions, tips for eating and enjoying without gaining weight, as well as safe, effective weight-loss. A comprehensive plan can actually result in increased energy, reduce stress, and a savings of time and money. A good plan will not involve sacrifice and allow to enjoy all the indulgences of this special time, with out compromising your health.

6 to 12 Months

• Select date along with backup dates
• Decide budget, discuss sharing of expenses
• Decide type of wedding (Formal, Semi-Formal, Informal)
• Compile guest list (This will help with the decision of where to have your ceremony & reception)
• Choose location of ceremony
• Choose location of reception
• Choose officiant
• Decide size of wedding party, choose attendants

2 to 4 Months

• Reserve rental items, arches, canopy, linens, etc.

• Shop for trousseau and apparel for honeymoon & prenuptial parties
NOW THAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED YOUR PERFECT SIZE by sticking to your WELLNESS PLAN –
• Shopping for that trousseau and those parties will be a pleasure because you are now wearing and shopping for a whole new wardrobe.
• If you are going to honeymoon outside the country, arrange to get necessary passports, visas and vaccinations
• Reserve limousine, carriage, trolley or coach transportation
• Address wedding invitations
• Confirm delivery dates of all dresses
• Discuss details of menu with caterer
• Discuss ceremony with officiant
• Choose readings and confirm vows for ceremony
• Schedule rehearsal
• Confirm rehearsal dinner arrangements
• Review florist arrangements, finalize order
• Buy attendants' gifts and gifts for each other
• Experiment with hairstyles and make-up changes
• Buy bride's and attendant's shoes—send to dyer
• Order wedding and groom's cakes


1 to 2 Months

AS YOU START TO ATTEND ALL THE PARTIES LEADING UP TO YOUR EVENT DON’T FORGET TO CONSULT YOUR WELLNESS COACH FOR IDEAS ON HOW TO ABSOLUTELY ENJOY ALL THE PLEASURES WITHOUT GAINING BACK POUNDS AND INCHES.
• Complete shopping for trousseau
• Buy stockings and any remaining accessories
• Mail invitations four to six weeks before the wedding
• Organize seating arrangements and make place cards (including parents table)
• Final bridal fitting (Hear the seamstress telling you how she can’t believe that you are now wearing a size x )
• Pick up wedding rings; check engravings and sizes
• Final attendant's fittings
• Confirm honeymoon reservations; begin packing
• (Imagine yourself at the perfect weight in that itty bitty swimsuit on the beach.)
• Select reception decorations & accessories: cake knife & server, balloons, candles, flowers, table favors
• Select ceremony accessories: unity candle, ring pillow, flower girl's basket, guest book, pen, etc.
• Select personal accessories: handbag, garter, engraved toasting glasses, guest mementos
• Finalize details for photographer, videographer, florist, entertainment, bakery and minister
• Practice hairstyles with veil if doing your own hair for wedding
• Write thank you notes for gifts received
• Assign friends or family to assist with guest book and gift table
• Arrange bridesmaids' brunch or luncheon details
• Plan bouquet preservation
• Buy marriage license



2 Weeks
(STAY ON YOUR WELLNESS PLAN – YOUR COACH CAN HELP YOU CUSTOMIZE)
• Schedule appointments for hair stylist, facial, manicure, massage
• Invite wedding party & guests to rehearsal dinner
• Move belongings to new home
• Review reception seating and order place cards from calligrapher
• Confirm out-of-town guests' lodging with reserved hotels
• Confirm wedding party transportation and arrival times
• Record gifts as you receive them; write thank you notes and mail
• Arrange for gown cleaning and bouquet preservation after the ceremony



1 to 2 Weeks

• Schedule appointment for manicure, pedicure and massage (massage is highly recommended to help relax)
• Finalize rehearsal dinner arrangements
• Contact people who haven't responded
• Final consultations: florist, hall decorator, musicians, photographer, videographer (make sure that everything is in order)
• Give final guest count to reception facility and caterer
• Remind men to pick up formal wear and shoes. Check for fit.
• Make wedding day schedule and give everyone copies at rehearsal dinner
• Relax the day before; keep personal appointments
• Finish honeymoon packing; prepare going away outfit

Introducing myself

I am a health and wellness coach. One of my favorite groups to work with are brides and wedding parties. I love to work with the bride and groom, moms, bridesmaids,etc... creating an context of wellness for the wedding as well as the perfect way to start married life. I will be blogging about the progress that my bridal clients are making as they go through the process of cleansing not dieting to attain their ideal weight, reduce stress, and gain energy prior to and after the big day.
